Am hunkered down with lists of things to do that I just can’t make myself DO. Cleaning…organizing (too listless). Reading (glued to online and TV coronavirus updates). Writing. OK. The next few weeks are going to be rough so “Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.” Here are some tips to help you stay tucked in…

MOVIES

Here are 7  Movies Every Theater Person Should Watch While Stuck at Home curated by Broadway’s Zachary Stewart recently posted in Theatermania beginning with one of my absolute favorites, “All About Eve.”

And Boston Ballet’s artistic director the marvelous Mikko Nissinen has released his own movie list which might just make you get up off the couch. Mikko’s movie list begins with “The Red Shoes ” the 1948 technicolor fever dream of a film based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale and starring prima ballerina Moira Shearer as a dancer possessed by her red ballet slippers. I remember watching this film as a young girl and dancing all around my house, imagining that I was dying for art.

Cambridge’s Brattle Theatre has stepped into the breach on the festival circuit and is supporting a partnership between Oscilloscope Laboratories and Mailchimp bringing you some of the best short films that would have been hitting the circuit this spring.  South By Southwest Film Festival’s short films, are available for free, online, right now.
The Brattle is also taking the sting out of cruising and tapping into our wanderlust with its Virtual Vacation USA Repertory Series with stops at cities across the country for memorable encounters with everyone from Spike Lee and Madonna to Ferris Bueller and Lady Bird! Here’s preview of tonight’s film THE CRUISE which takes you on a bus tour narrated by a speed-talking tour guide through New York City- a hotspot long before the current pandemic.
