The 2020 BOSTON POPS have been forced to cancel by Covid-19. Not since 1890 has the BOSTON POPS cancelled a season, the second time in its 135 year history! The coronavirus pandemic has pre-empted a particularly notable season for Keith Lockhart: his 25th Anniversary as Pops conductor. Below is a message from the maestro himself:

No word yet on the “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular “on July 4th or the 2020 Tanglewood season this summer, but those decisions and announcements are expected mid-May.

In the meantime, we can all tune in to the music virtually at BostonPops.Org/AtHome starting in May, and listen to Boston Symphony digital content ready for us RIGHT NOW at BSO.ORG/ATHOME

Keith, we love you, and thank you for 25 years of wonderful music. I still remember sitting with your parents at your debut performance as our POPS conductor, and later reporting live for WBZ -TV on the 11 o’clock news on that first night you picked up the baton in Symphony Hall.  I can’t wait to celebrate a quarter century with you in 2021. For now, stay safe and well with your family and the whole extended family at Symphony Hall!
