It’s a glorious FALL onstage everywhere in Boston right now with BOSTON BALLET and the BSO with fantastic programs for everyone!

The Seasons’ Canon

Head over to The OPERA HOUSE where BOSTON BALLET has just kicked off its season with FALL EXPERIENCE which left me speechless. You don’t have to know anything about ballet to love this. If you’ve ever in your life moved– you will be moved! For me the highlight of the program was a work I had never seen before, though I’d HEARD this haunting music: The Seasons Canon set to one of the most ravishing compositions I’ve ever heard– Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons: Recomposed by Max Richter,  brilliantly choreographed by Crystal Pite. It’s a stunner, like plunging into a dream and  witnessing the beginning of life, the dancers arising as one organism from some primordial essence, taking shape and vibrating to a life force animating everything in the universe …I am still swooning… WATCH the trailer here!

“After”

The program features four contemporary choreographer in all, three of them women, including Principal Dancer Lia Cirio whose world premiere After –her second commissioned by Boston Ballet– kicked things off !

Sabrina Matthews’ Ein Von Viel featured two male dancers and a pianist at a grand piano onstage playing Bach’s Goldberg Variations!  The dancers smoothly unleash Bach’s variations, serpentine, surprising, and muscular with attitude to spare.
