The view from the wings of the Shubert Theatre was magical... there was the beautiful actress Jennifer Ellis in a satin gown under a silvery light with an even more silvery soprano singing solo from her winning performance in The Lyric Stage Company's marvelous production of MY FAIR LADY. There was the sultry McCaela Donovan holding us spellbound [...]

MOVIE: MONEY MONSTER

By |2016-05-16T13:20:37-04:00May 14th, 2016|Drama, Movies|0 Comments

MONEY MONSTER the new film directed by Jodie Foster starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts--is as phony as a three dollar bill. It's a cornball, ham-fisted, heapin' helpin' of preposterousity--and though that's not a real word, it is nonetheless a perfect descriptor for this "not a real movie." Within five minutes I was getting a whiff of the cheesiness, sniffing out [...]

MOTHER'S DAY is overflowing with the milk of human diversity-- of the Hollywood kind. It's chock full of big names and plot lines, kids, parents, grandparents, adoptees looking for their mothers, mothers looking for their cast-offspring, couples married, co-habiting, divorced and widowed, gay, straight, mixed raced, and one British accent. Jennifer Aniston is Sandy, who first appears wrapped in a towel, her skin glowing [...]

THEATER: SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL

By |2016-04-27T23:15:31-04:00April 27th, 2016|Theater|0 Comments

What could be more fun than watching a bunch of fops, gossips, degenerates and cheats tattling and prattling in powdered wigs, slicing and dicing anyone and everyone in their horrid little circle? Well not much, as this devilishly delightful Actors' Shakespeare Project production of "School For Scandal," Richard Brinsley Sheridan's still relevant 18th century satire on the scandalmongering among us, [...]
