The dust has settled on the 33rd Annual Elliot Norton Awards presented by the Boston Theater Critics Association, emceed by yours truly at Boston’s SHUBERT THEATRE, followed by a lavish beer and Chinese food reception at the WANG! Nortie Prize Winner & Gold Dust Orphan impresario RYAN LANDRY made us cry. Guest of Honor “Orange is the new Black’s ‘Big Boo’ ” LEA DELARIA (with her Medford family and fiancee Chelsea Fairless in the audience) sang a jazz tune– then made us laugh and cry. Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence: Ryan LandryLongtime Gold Dust Orphans impresario and authorial genius, Ryan Landry’s bawdy, irresistible parodistic extravaganzas have made the Ramrod Center for the Performing Arts the least stiff and mostexuberant theater venue in town.
