Here’s another one: my new :30 Second Review of ARGO! If you don’t have time to read my FULL TEXT REVIEW and want the bottom line fast, with VIDEO–
check out Joyce’s :30 Second Review! What do you think?
Lincoln and Argo are thrilling movies, but to express this in 30-seconds is a bit much. It all goes by too fast, despite all your charm Joyce…and I would prefer 45 or 60 seconds, as all of the memorable radio spots I did decades ago were more than 30 seconds. Have you ever seen a noteworthy movie trailer of just 30-seconds? They now prepare so many different trailers (for different types of movies) that for years I was sent to audit them and make sure theaters were running the “right” ones on the right screens, so many were sent to the major chains…
Too often I would preview the trailers before less than a dozen patrons, and be required to call in (Friday afternoon) to what I saw…or which ones “provoked” the most reaction from the “small, limited audience.”
In any event, the average trailer was about 1-2 minutes, as there was only room for 5-6 at most in the 10 minutes before the feature began.
To think, none of today’s technology was even envisioned when my two granduncles owned a vaudville theatre about 100 years ago, when theater meant live actors and musicians for each & every performance.
Hey Stephen– Thanks for the feedback– :30 seconds is short but seems right for this fast-paced world. The thinking is to give people a quick glimpse to help them make a decision about what to see. I then include a link to my FULL TEXT REVIEW for the folks who want more– perhaps after they’ve seen the film. You are terrific to respond– it’s all VERY helpful to me as I experiment with different formats!
How cool that movies seem to “run in your family”!
Love the 30 second review. But I find this more helpful when trying to decide which to see or rent.
Miss you on Tv
Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to respond!I LOVE the way you would find this useful– that’s exactly what I’m trying to do withthe :30 second review–give folks a shorthand way to see what it’s about, with a bit of analysis and my take on whether or not I liked it. That could be a useful guide– either way!
